In addition to Captain Timothy Laughridge, "SARIYAH" is crewed by five additional professionals: Chef, Engineer, Mate, Stewardess, and Deck Hand.

CHEF: SALISHA (SALLY) ALI
A Cordon Bleu trained chef, Sally is adept at creating a diverse menu of the highest quality which will appeal to both European and American clientele.

As native of the island of Trinidad, where her family owns a restaurant, her repertoire includes not only classic cuisines but also the delightfully exotic flavors of Caribbean. As a girl, she fished the waters off Trinidad with her father and has always felt drawn to the sea. This, combined with her lifelong passion for cooking, led her to the yachting industry, where she began her career as a crew chef and stewardess.

Coming from a family of twelve sisters and eight brothers, Sally is a powerhouse of energy who is used to cooking for large groups. Her hard work has always endeared her to her fellow crew members.

Sally’s enthusiastic attitude, together with her exceptional talent in the galley, has proven the perfect formula for success in the charter industry. With a radiant smile and gentle and soft-spoken manner, she is always ready to welcome guests aboard "SARIYAH".

ENGINEER: DALE TREMAIN
Having been aboard "SARIYAH" since her launch, and serving as engineer for the majority of that time, Dale has an exceptionally detailed understanding of the yacht's operational systems.

Former experience prepared Dale perfectly for a sophisticated sailing vessel like "SARIYAH". In his late teens he became a professional boat builder, and then went on to complete a number of major refits and deliveries as captain. He is a native of Auckland, New Zealand, where he began sailing dinghies at the age of eleven. When he was a little older, he competed in the Whitbread Round the World Race, and went on to sail in Grand Prix regattas in Europe and on the Mediterranean.

Dale subsequently returned to building composite racing yachts in New Zealand as an individual contractor, and was involved in several major international projects before joining the "SARIYAH" crew.

MATE: STEVE SIMS
Always prepared and always smiling, Steve will be happy to assist you with any activity, including water sports, trips to the beach, and explorations ashore.

Steve grew up on the outskirts of London and completed his doctorate at the University of Bath. He went on to work for a large multinational corporation for five years as a European project manager. And then, he caught the sailing bug.

He began sailing on the challenging tidal waters of the British Isles, and by 2002 he had made the decision to embark on a full-time career afloat. He completed his Yacht Master and Yacht Master/Ocean licenses and logged over 10,000 miles in the UK, Mediterranean and Atlantic, including an ocean crossing, before joining "SARIYAH".

STEWARDESS: ALEXANDRA HENDERSON
Alex is originally from the Lakes District of Northern England where she spent as much time as possible outdoors climbing mountains and sailing dinghies.

Beginning at the tender age of 11, she combined her schoolwork and then her university studies with a succession of jobs in restaurants, working her way up from dish washer to manager of a bar/restaurant and hotel at age 24.

Before joining "SARIYAH", Alex spent three summers working onboard sailing yachts while running chalets in the French Alps during the winters. Happiest when living onboard a boat, she is very outgoing and loves looking after guests, exploring new places, and being a part of a professional team. These qualities, plus her many years in the hospitality industry, make Alex ideally suited to the job of Stewardess on "SARIYAH".

DECK HAND: BLAIR SMEAL
If you'd like to be actively involved in sailing "SARIYAH", Blair will be delighted to "show you the ropes.

An experienced and enthusiastic sailor, he has an impressive and varied background. Blair started sailing as a child in his hometown of Whangarei, New Zealand, and competed in all the dinghy youth classes. At the age of 17, he joined the Royal New Zealand Air force training as an aeronautical metal worker. His sailing came to a halt during basic training, but he soon got back into it through inter-service match racing regattas.

He was posted to Auckland and started racing in keel boats, which led to his being asked by the Royal New Zealand Navy to join their sail-training program. He accepted and taught everything from boat handling to navigation for the next year.

Blair was subsequently discharged from the armed services and joined SailNZ, a company taking passengers on match races aboard two former America's cup boats. Later, he worked on a 75-foot catamaran in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. He then left for Antigua where he joined "SARIYAH".
